No peach pit for you (with apologies to the soup nazi)
This is a shame. I note though that they are planning to screen the rest of the episodes over the summer. I actually enjoy the summer non-ratings television...so maybe I'll get to catch 90210 after all. Because it was on choir night I didn't get to see it...so I'm not sure if there was a peach pit. If there wasn't there should have been.

I only watched the first episode--which was funny enough, but I completely forgot about the next episode, and then discovered I didn't really care--but not only was there a Peach Pit, it was still staffed by the same man.
The undercurrent of the show was a little "we're never, ever getting out of this place," sadly.
Really...the same man? Well, he must have been pleased to get another gig after so long. But was it still peach? Such an early nineties colour scheme!
It does sound a little pathetic...sadly
I can't remember the colour scheme.
But I've just double-checked, in case I'd accidentally hit my head in the interim, and it was Joe E. Tata both times.
Combined with a guest appearance from Shannon Doherty and Jennie Garth's recurring role, and using characters such as the little sister from when Kelly's mother married Brian Austin Green's character's father (I remember the plotline, but not the character's name), the whole show made me want to shout, "Run for your life! I know it's L.A., but you're as stuck as you would be if you'd grown up in Bon Temps, Louisiana, population 150!"
aha...Joe E. Tata...character name Nat? or Ned? memories...hey!
It all sounds a little bit claustrophobic character wise...(i had forgotten that delightful plot you mention)...all i remember about Brian Austin Green was his Vanilla Ice style hair...and didn't he actual do some kind of "rapping"?
Nat, I think. Didn't he end up marrying one of the character's mothers, as well? Something like that.
I think Green did rap. It may even have been one of those horrible instances where the actor wanted to launch a singing career but wasn't quite confident enough in his skills to abandon a secure paycheck, so they wrote in a subplot where the character suddenly won a talent competition/got a record deal/debuted as a performer at the Peach Pit.
Those are always excruciating.
excruciating yes...but you can't help yourself in watching!
i wonder if david hasselhoff ever sang on the original knight rider...or even baywatch...i'd like to think so
and then of course there was our delta on neighbours...except i guess she can sing if you like that kind of thing. did kylie sing on neighbours? so many questions...i'm going to have to spend some wikipedia time today
I was thinking partly of Delta--though, as you say, at least she can hit the notes.
I don't think Kylie sang--Delta's character, if I remember my TV Week reading correctly, left to become a singer, yes? But Charlene just got married and moved to Queensland. I don't remember her character ever being a singer, but I didn't watch back then (or now, actually).
I have a feeling I should be able to think of someone else, but it's right at the back of my brain.
I remember they once made Kristen Bell sing on Veronica Mars and that was rather excruciating, but it was meant to be--it was forced karaoke.
you're right there's got to be others...although i think neighbours is the worst offender. I seem to remember a few years ago a dr karl kennedy storyline about how he had a dreadful band in his younger days and then they actually got him singing on the show...and I have a foggy idea that he is quite a star in britain as a result of this? that could be wrong though.
also stefan dennis (evil paul robinson) tried singing, as did craig maclachlan - although i don't remember if they did so on the show
one of my favourites singing on tv storylines was degrassi - the zit remedy - with snake, joey and the other guy whose name i can't remember...now i'm showing my age i think
No, no--I loved Degrassi, both Junior High and High. That's where my appreciation for the fine television that comes out of Canada started, only to be honed later by the fabulous Nero Wolfe adaptations.
The Zit Remedy were:
Joey (who had that maudlin relationship with the irritating Caitlin, who then left him for Claude, who was pretentious, wore only one earring, and shot himself in the school toilets after arranging to have flowers sent posthumously to Caitlin telling her not to blame herself. He was a prat),
Snake (about whom I can remember nothing), and
Wheels (who ended up, in the telemovie with which they ended the show, developing a drinking problem and blinding Lucy in a drunken car accident. If I remember correctly, he ended up being jailed).
(And I remembered all that without Wikipedia. Scary.)
Oh, and the reference to Stefan Dennis has reminded me of seeing his film clip recently--it must have been on Spicks and Specks. Shudder.
Wheels!!!! yes...with the bad glasses?...I loved that Degrassi era and that Claude/ Caitlin storyline still sticks in my childhood memory as particularly disturbing...groundbreaking tv really
All I remember about Snake is that he was very tall...
impressive recall though!
I think Stefan Dennis was on Spicks and SPecks...that was one bad video and singing!
Yep, he had those heavy-frame glasses, but somehow managed to be a little cool, anyway.
The Caitlin/Claude (and am I right in thinking that he pronounced it "Cloud," or something like that?) stuck in my head, too. It was hard to watch at the time.
But then Degrassi was great at dealing with "serious issues" while also making the characters appealing enough that you wanted to watch it.
yeah they were cool...joey too in his little hat!
"clode" or maybe "clood" or "cloud" yes! - something with a Canadian accent anyway....always remember being surprised when seeing it written as "claude" in the credits...because we knew claude the crow from shirl's neighbourhood (there pronounced "clawed"!
