2 out of 3 ain't bad

Q: How many matches does it take Wendy to light tealight candles while the airconditioning is blowing about the room?
A: 8...and even then I only made 2 out of 3.

I always failed those tests in Girl Guides when you were given three matches only to light the fire (which you had carefully constructed of the proper amounts of various sized twigs and leaf litter.) I was far from the model Guide.

are you joking? this is worrying :)

No not joking...I'm hopeless with matches...as soon as they start to burn I think they are going to burn my fingers as well. I've got to get those long stem ones....I'm less scared of them.

I could never be a pyromaniac

or did you mean it was worrying that i wasn't a model girl guide....i did get a first aid badge. i thought that was pretty good.

haha that's funny...what about a lighter or is that worse?

my worrying comment was referring to you trying to light candles in a room with air-con in the first place!

i'm sure you took something away from guides though like being prepared maybe...plus you do have that large bag....

Wendy said...

yes i am always prepared with my big bag of tricks so some of the guiding message must have trickled through

no...hopeless with lighters as well..they scare me...i just don't like creating my own fire...don't worry though..you're not the first to make fun of me with this. the only things i don't mind are those big things you use to light gas stoves etc...maybe i need to do away with matches and get one of those

oh NO anything but those gas things...and who said i was making fun of you!?! i wasn't...really :) the puzzle is coming together though...those birthday candles froma while back...making sense!

you're like a regular miss marple! I wasn't even thinking about the disastrous birthday candles...but you're right....it's all starting to make sense now!
:)

but what shall i use to light my candles... I don't think i have the bush tucker man's skills in rubbing two sticks together to make fire

the two sticks thing may just work if you practice (so hard!), although that sounds more dangerous than a match! i think you need to employ a candle lighter maybe...or don't buy real candles just those where you flick the switch at the bottom (defeating purpose of candles) ok i'll stop now

are you secretly one of those people who hold candle parties where the candles are ridiculously expensive?
because that's a lot of candle knowledge you are displaying there
;)

oh this coming from the one who has had a few posts relating to candles i believe...expert :) NO...going to ONE of those parties was enough for me and I would never host!
Anyway, that expensive range wouldn't sell the fabulous battery operated candles like i own (something good from the post christmas sales!)

Wendy said...

yes i too went to one of those parties and succumbed into buying (the cheapest thing i could find!)..NEVER AGAIN. I too have a lovely battery operated christmas candle (present from a piano student)...except the battery has gone flat...problem for next year!. I guess I'll just throw it out and buy a new one....or maybe just decorate a torch
:)
perhaps between us we can use our combined candle knowledge for the good of the human race..oh..wait..that's me and my research
lol!

someone bought you a present and you are throwing it out! those things do have a short life though...is this one that changes colour?
decorate a torch...you crack me up! you'll have to make it flicker somehow
i think that will have to be your signature tune (that human race song)! now how cool would that be on a t-shirt

Wendy said...

no, mine was just white frosted...like a little candle....just wait decorated torches will be the next big thing for xmas 2009/10

yes...television is vital to the human race...i might nikko that on one of my white t-shirts

(joking!)
